The K. G. C. was thus formed by the golfers of the U. S. R. C., K. C. C., and K. B. G. C who had called a meeting at the Central British School and decided upon the new club, on having received intimation from the Government that the King's Park Club, as the former institution was called would have to give up its ground.
The formal opening of the Kowloon Golf Club took place on January 18, 1925, by H. E. the Governor Sir Edward Stubbs who played an opening game with H. E. The General Officer Commanding, Major-Gen. Sir John Fowler, which the Governor won by two up. Since that date improvements have been made to the course and last year (June 4, 1932) the then G. O. C. Major-Gen. J. W. Sandilands formally declared the fine new clubhouse open.
Recent years have also seen the laying out of two other small golf courses in the New Territories one at Fanling used by the Country Club and another at Shatin where members of the Japanese community some of whom are quite good players, spend their week-ends.

I am indebted to a reader for the loan of a most interesting old photograph which is reproduced to-day. It is also topical in view of the local Yorkshiremen's dinner last Friday.
The photograph is kindly lent by Mr. J. D. Danby and shows a group of exiled Yorkshiremen photographed on the occasion of a reunion tiffin held on August 4, 1887 one of the gentlemen being Mr. W. Danby (father of Mr. J. D. Danby) and another Mr. Clifford Wilkinson of Tansan fame.
It is interesting to find that the famous English county was so well represented out here even in those old days, and that Yorkshiremen gathered so long ago to exchange reminiscences and recall their section of the homeland. Two of the individuals in the photograph cannot be identified (unless some reader can supply the missing names) but the names of the others are as follow:
Reading left to right Unknown; W. Danby seated in dark coat; A. Denison; unknown (seated in white suit); Clifford Wilkinson, reclining and holding fan; and on extreme right M. F. H. Jackson of the Blue Funnel Line.

On February 12, 1886 a meeting of those interested in football was held at the Victoria Recreation Club.
This minute appearing in the records of the Hongkong Football Club, marks the beginning of organised football in Hongkong. Both Rugby and Soccer certainly had been played
